58th Infantry, Second State Color. The 58th was formed when two incomplete regiments were consolidated at a camp near Philadelphia in March 1862, however, recruiting for both regiments began during the fall of 1861. The 58th was composed of men from Philadelphia, Delaware, Erie, McKean, Tioga, Elk, Warren, Clinton, Luzerne, and Northumberland counties. The regiment received its second state color November 23, 1864, after sustaining great damage to the first. The regiment was mustered out of service on January 24, 1866.

The 58th was formed when two incomplete regiments were consolidated at a camp near Philadelphia in March 1862, however, recruiting for both regiments began during the fall of 1861. The 58th was composed of men from Philadelphia, Delaware, Erie, McKean, Tioga, Elk, Warren, Clinton, Luzerne, and Northumberland counties. Governor Curtin visited Philadelphia on December 6, 1861 and presented the state color to the not-yet complete 58th. One of the color-bearers in 1863 was Sergeant Charles Harman, and in 1864 was Sergeant John Hoffa. The flag sustained heavy damage in the fall of 1864 and the regiment received a new color. The regiment was mustered out of service on January 24, 1866.
